Ms. Amy Balkus

Ms. Amy grew up in Holliston and still live in the house she was raised in. She always knew from a young age that she wanted to be a teacher. Her freshman year of college, she attended Keene State in Keene, New Hampshire and started her education classes there. Sophomore year she transferred to Framingham State College (now University) where she continued her education courses, majoring in Elementary Education with a interdisciplinary second major including Psychology, Sociology and Economics. When she graduated in June of 2003 she worked for two years at Next Generation Children's Center in Sudbury as a Prekindergarten teacher. She wanted a job closer to her house so she made the switch to KinderCare Learning Center here in Ashland in November 2005. She worked two years full time as the Preschool teacher then she went part time to pursue a position working one to one with children with Autism for six years until September 2013. She came back full-time as the Program Specialist and has been taking courses working toward being a director since then. Working here for such a long period of time has shaped the teacher she has become and the director that she wants to be.
